Bridger CrossFit is an athletic training facility located on the North side of Bozeman (see the map).
Physically, we are a garage gym. Our facility is comprised of
barbells, solid rubber bumper plates, pull-up bars, rings, medicine
balls, plyometric boxes, Concept II rowers, kettlebells, and space in
which to workout.
What we provide for our athletes is world class coaching in a friendly, encouraging environment. Our coaches include the longest and most certified, most experienced CrossFit certified trainers in the Gallatin Valley. We lead our athletes through the Workout of the Day, where our job isn't to be a cheerleader or spectator. Indeed, we motivate and uphold our athletes to high standards while keeping a watchful eye to make sure our athletes remain as safe as possible.
Our workouts are comprised of a wide variety of functional movements executed at a high intensity. That is, they are CrossFit Workouts. We are proud to be a member of the CrossFit Affiliate family as well as the CrossFit Kids Affiliate family.
What do we do?
CrossFit!
Uhh.....what's that?
CrossFit is a stren
gth and conditioning program based on constantly varied functional movements executed at a high intensity. (See also What Is CrossFit?)
Break it down for me!
Constantly varied
is just that. Every day, at Bridger CrossFit, we do something
different. Sure, we repeat workouts sometimes. We have to, because that's how we measure progress. Constantly changing things
up not only gets our athletes in fabulous shape, but it always keep 'em
guessing and they never get bored.
Functional movements are movements found in everyday life. They are safe, effective, efficient, and found in nature. They utilize multiple joints and whole muscle groups. An example would be the squat, which is a functional movement. The hamstring curl and leg extension are not functional movements (and combined don't begin to approximate what a squat will do for you), because they are isolating one muscle.
Functional
movements are also extremely powerful. For all you physics nerds out
there, that means that they can move large loads long distances and
quickly. What's that? Power, baby!
Intensity is power. Functional movements are powerful. That is, they have the potential to make your workouts very intense.
Intensity is not always fun, but intensity is the single variable most closely associated with the greatest return for your investment, when it comes to health and fitness. That is, short but intense workouts have a much greater positive impact on one's health and fitness than do longer bouts of moderate exercise, especially when looked at on a per-minute basis! You get more bang for your buck, I like to say.
We understand that intensity is relative to the individual. Each and
every time you walk through our door, you will be trained at your
ability level. As you progress and your fitness level increases, the
workouts will become more challenging, and ultimately the level of intensity is your responsibility.
Okay, I get it now. Tell me more about what you do at Bridger CrossFit.
We offer group classes, which are instructor-led. In our group classes, the workout of the day (WOD) is scaled to the ability of each athlete, and everybody performs the same workout, or some version of it. Additionally, we offer personal training for individuals who are not ready to jump into group classes, or who have additional needs or interests (such an endurance training, limited range of motion, etc).
Is this for me?
Probably!
CrossFit is for anyone, but it's not for everyone.
Okay, seriously...
We teach movements, not exercises. Our passion is helping you move your body safely and efficiently at home, at work, and at play. The skills you learn at Bridger CrossFit will keep you strong, healthy, and functional throughout your life. After all, it isn't disease, but lack of functional movement, that puts most people into nursing homes.
Our specialty is working with people who are in need of a lifestyle change. We love to help people restore strength, health, and fitness. If you are overweight, out of shape, and at risk for medical problems correlated with excess body fat (such as heart disease or diabetes), we would love to help you restore your health and reclaim your life! Similarly, if you are recovering from surgery or injuries and are looking for a fitness program that will restore strength and mobility in your joints (with your doctor's permission, of course), then please stop by and chat with us.
I'm ready! How do I get started?
We're glad you asked! Head on over to our page on getting started for more information.
