Meriah McLeish – Manager/Head Coach

EmailLinked In | Facebook | Blog

Meriah grew up a small town athlete playing basketball, tumbling on a wrestling mat, and sprinting and throwing during track season.  She attended MSU pursuing a degree in Exercise Science and even though she loved to teach she didn’t feel being a personal trainer was a good fit for her.  Uninspired by with the thought of treadmills and and bicep curls in her own training, how was she to motivate others?  At the peak of her unfitness she was introduced to CrossFit by her older brother and within the year was Level 1 certified.  Since then she has attended several CrossFit certifications and plans on more to come, including becoming USAW certified.  She has competed in 2009 Rocky Mountain Regional CrossFit Games, placed 2nd in her weight class in the Olympic lifting portion of the first USAW/CrossFit event in Colorado Springs, and finished 18th in the 2011 Northwestern Regional CrossFit Games.  Like many Montanans Meriah enjoys being outside, whether skiing, hiking with her dog, or leisurely floating down the river.

Originally from Missoula, MT, Jenna was never much into the ball-sports like most other kids.  She ran Cross Country for 4 years, ran track, swam, and played tennis (oh!  A ball sport!).  When she was 16 she began cycling with the local road biking club, and at the age of 17 did her first triathlon AND century ride.  During college at Colorado State University and Montana State University, Jenna raced road bikes and participated in the triathlon team.  She competed at the National level in both sports for two years, including qualifying for the Ironman in Kona.  Earning her degree in Math and Physics, it didn’t take long after graduating that, in fact, she didn’t want to do anything else with Math or Physics.  She started CrossFitting in February 2008 and enjoys competing on the local, regional, and (inter)national level.  Jenna’s competitive nature earned her a spot in the 2009 CrossFit Games, and within 1 year of the birth of her son qualified for the 2011 Northwest Regional CrossFit Games.  When not CrossFitting or coaching she can be found on her mountain bike, reading, cooking, or hanging out with her husband Ben and her young son Morgan.

Man tough interview (Ben interviews himself. If you want it done right…..)

I’m into a lot of things that I feel don’t get enough attention.

*My family consisting of my wife Jenna and my son Morgan. Morgan is nineteen months old and awesome. He also gets a lot of attention. But not enough in my opinion.

*Bicycles and Bicycling: One of the the only things in the world I’m an authority on. I love bikes. I love to work on bikes. I love to ride bikes. They are the past, present, and future of travel.

*CrossFit: Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity. I’m a level one certified trainer as well as an Olympic Lifting certified trainer. I always hated gyms. Until I started training for POWER!

*Magic the Gathering: Yes I’m that big of a nerd. I love magic. It’s the most mentally challenging thing I’ve ever done. Take the gamesmanship of poker and inject it with a healthy dose of extreme memorization, creativity, mathematics and FABULICIOUS** artwork. It’s awesome! If you haven’t played, you should! At the very least you’ll know what I’m talking about when I post.

*Disc Golf: Ok this is where I’ll probably lose you. But it’s such a great sport! It’s like golf except cheaper, and way more athletic. I have a pretty fun albeit I think pretty easy course right by my house. I try to play every day!

*Rosemary: Not the spice but rather, my 1980 Volksvagen Vanagon! I just bought her a couple days ago and I’m pumped! It’s already having problems but I hear that comes with the territory. I’ve always loved these cars and now I have one. I rule! Addendum: a couple hours after writing this she’s purring like a kitten!

Well I guess that about wraps it up for me the interviewer. I’m pretty bored with myself. I can’t imagine how you must feel. Anyway, If you read this far and you’re not my mom nice work! And I thank you for giving me a chance.

**not the original word Ben used, changed to be more FABULOUS!

Leslie Allen – Part Time Coach

content

Always active as a kid, Leslie tumbled and cartwheeled her way through childhood until she learned to row on the Potomac River in Virginia her freshman year of high school. Rowing kept her, mostly, out of trouble. She enlisted in the United States Marine Crops in 1989 where she served as an aircraft firefighting and rescue specialist. After five years of active duty she decided she was ready for college.

Leslie worked as a fitness instructor at several health clubs while in school, but felt the programs lacked athletic authenticity. She eventually transferred to University of California, Davis, where at the ripe old age of 25, made the cut for the University’s rowing team. Happy to be in the land of collegiate athletics she did her best to keep up with the 18 year olds! Being the oldest person to ever compete on the UC Davis crew team taught her invaluable lessons in focus and determination.

In 2010 Leslie found herself unfit, overweight, frustrated and unemployed. She took this opportunity to rediscover her athletic potential and through a Google search for “Bozeman Fitness” found Bridger CrossFit. She was immediately hooked and has never looked back. Leslie earned her Level 1 certification in March 2011 and looks forward to helping people discover their inner athlete.

Josh Cederberg – Part Time Coach

Josh is a younger coach with a respectable athletic background and lots of contagious enthusiasm. He played both basketball and football for 8 years but never really liked heavy lifting or intense endeavors. While in college, Josh gained his “freshman fifteen” and struggled with loosing the weight. He discovered CrossFit in the Spring of 2009 and surprised himself with how quickly he fell in love with the intensity and especially the Olympic Lifting.
Josh is confident CrossFit can benefit everybody and is particularly motivated to teach others the most efficient methods of executing the movements. Josh obtained his Level 1 certification in the Spring of 2011.
When Josh is not crushing WODs and coaching he can be found in the classrooms at MSU. He is currently double majoring in Cell Biology and Neuroscience (Pre-medicine) and Exercise Science.

Josh has taken courses in Basic EMT training and is CPR/AED certified. He is also CrossFit Level 1 certified.

Natascha Watson – Part Time Coach

Reason I Crossfit: I Crossfit because it taught me to push in myself in ways I never have before, far beyond what I thought my limits were. I’ve always challenged myself physically, and have intensely practiced yoga for 20 years and Taekwondo for the last 5 years. I thought I was a pretty hardcore yogini until I found Crossfit. But now I am physically and mentally stronger than I ever have been. The best part is the community of people, all aiming for the same goals. We are all breaking through mental barriers and achieving things we never thought possible, together.

Certifications:
CrossFit Level 1
Running/Endurance
Registered Yoga Instructor

Jessica Burch – Part Time Coach

content

A three sport high school athlete, teenage Jessica once told her father she would “never let herself get out of shape.” He smirked at her and said something along the lines of, “Just you wait.” Well, she didn’t really wait, but did end up getting rather unfit after becoming disenchanted with traditional lunch hour “fitness classes” early in her professional life. Luckily for her, she was introduced to CrossFit through a networking group in 2010, and it wasn’t long until she was hooked. To Jessica, CrossFit is like being in sports again – it’s challenging both mentally and physically and competitive on a daily basis, but there’s also community and friendship amongst fellow athletes. CrossFit has enriched her life more than she ever expected.

This past fall, Jessica earned her Level 1 Certification, just a few weeks after having her first child. She looks forward to helping others improve their lives through CrossFit.
