Congrats Melissa!

Melissa won her first downhill ski race a couple of weekends ago in Red Lodge. It was a slalom college race and she placed first in her age class and 6th overall. Slalom has always been her biggest challenge, so it was ironic and exciting that she won this race. There were 66 gates, so this race required a lot of core strength to support the endurance and technical skills required for this event. Melissa said that CrossFit has definitely improved her core strength, as well as overall physical and mental stamina required in ski racing. As a mom, I see that it has also benefited her confidence in herself and her body. Melissa does a lot at BHS to help girls with their body image and CrossFit has given that gift back to her.

Melissa has been training with us on and off through soccer and ski season for a about a year.  She is a hard worker and always has a smile to give even after the toughest of workouts.  She may be small in stature, but this high school senior is no push over.  We are proud of her success,  and we look forward for more great things in this young woman’s bright future!
